We're Calling on Congress to Defend Animal Welfare
We believe in a more humane food system
ButcherBox is on a mission to bring better meat and seafood to every table. The high-quality proteins we deliver are the direct result of farming practices that uphold our industry-leading animal welfare standards. When animals are raised better, with more room to move, they don't require antibiotics or added hormones—which is why ButcherBox pork is always crate-free.
ButcherBox stands firmly behind California’s Proposition 12 and Massachusetts Question 3—two voter-passed two state laws that require farm animals to be raised without cruelty and ban the sale of pork that doesn’t comply with certain animal welfare laws, including increased space for housing pregnant pigs.
Despite being passed with overwhelming voter support, a small group of Congressmembers is (and has been) attempting to push legislation that reverses these laws. ButcherBox and our partners are strongly urging Congress to oppose legislation that would reverse Prop 12 and MAQ3, including the Food Security and Farm Protection Act, the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act, and any future iterations.
